Need Help With a Manuscript? Can’t Seem to Get Going on Your Writing Project?

I can help. I am an author, developmental book editor and writing coach who offers manuscript review, coaching and editing, and an ongoing online memoir workshop. (I’ll be starting a new memoir workshop session in January 2019. Contact me if you are interested.) I have worked with literally hundreds of clients over the past ten years, and helped them bring their novels, memoirs, business and self-help books to fruition. My clients have published dozens of books traditionally or with independent presses since 2008. See what they say about my services here. If you are interested in hearing more about what I can do for you and your writing, contact me.

Poem of the Day

How to Swim

Take one small green bathing suit,

the one with a frill around the hips.

Pull it up over your eight-year-old

bow-backed tummy.

Yank on a pink rubber bathing cap

studded with yellow and blue flowers

because Mom says to.

Run down the cottage stairs to the white

sands, past the little boathouse

and the sailboat resting on the shore.

Wade into Lake Michigan,

the sun warming your face.

Stroke into the surf, past the breakers.

Stretch out flat in the water.

Imagine small fish underneath

darting to and fro.

Sink below the surface.

Curl up in a ball and hang

suspended in the water.

Wonder what it would be like

to not have to breathe,

to live underwater

where they can’t find you.
